Definition & Overview

CATV Network (Cable Television Network) is a broadband network technical system that mainly transmits radio and television programs and uses coaxial cables as the transmission medium.

It is technically based on HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial) and realizes network access via Cable Modems.

The CATV access network is a network planned and designed by radio and television authorities for transmitting TV signals, which is primarily used to deliver unidirectional TV signals.

Coaxial cables feature strong shielding performance. Unlike wireless and IP networks, they are unaffected by wall obstructions, electromagnetic interference or weather conditions. They can deliver consistently clear, stutter-free and distortion-free picture quality for large-scale coverage in mountainous areas, buildings and hotels
